The group of Newark residents included two adults and three juveniles, according to police
According to Bloomfield police, the 15-year-old boy was riding the board on Franklin Street around 10 p.m. when the group surrounded him. One of the suspects punched the teen in the face and attempted to wrest it away from him.
The teen fought back, however, causing the assailants to flee on foot. Police were called to the scene and managed to find the group at the intersection of Watsessing Avenue and Berkeley Avenue.

The victim identified them as his attackers, and all were taken into custody. Raekwon Allen and Bahiyud-Denn Carter, both 19, were each charged with second-degree robbery and sent to the Essex County Jail on $100,000 and $50,000 bonds, respectively.
A 17-year-old girl and two teenage boys, ages 15 and 16, were also booked on the same charge, and taken to the county juvenile detention center.
Police said a search of the suspects also uncovered a cell phone that had been reported missing after a robbery in Belleville.
In a statement, Police Director Samuel Demaio called the arrests "another example of how our new strategic deployment plans for patrol pay dividends in the apprehension of suspects who commit crime in our township."
