NEWARK -- A 45-year-old city woman died Saturday night after being struck by a motor vehicle, an official said.
She was struck at about 8:30 p.m on Bergen Street near the Ambulatory Care Center at Rutgers Medical School, Essex County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas Fennelly said. The vehicle was a sedan.
She was taken to University Hospital and pronounced dead at 10:51 p.m., Fennelly said.
The prosecutor's office Major Crimes Task Force and Rutgers University Police are investigating. The driver is cooperating, Fennelly said.
No charges have been filed, Fennelly said. He declined to identify the victim until her family is notified.
