An investigation into what caused the Wednesday night crash near Interchange is ongoing, authorities say.
NEWARK -- A 27-year-old Chester, Pennsylvania man has been identified by state police as the victim killed in an overnight crash on the New Jersey Turnpike in Newark, a spokeswoman for the State Police confirmed.
Eric Stovall, a resident of Chester, Pennsylvania, died after the Chevrolet S.U.V. he was traveling in struck a toll plaza as the vehicle was heading onto the I-78 near Interchange 14, said Trooper Alina Spies.
The driver of the S.U.V. had to be freed from the vehicle and was taken to University Hospital in Newark. Information on his condition was not immediately made available.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, Spies said.
