The simple definition of "number," according to Merriam-Webster Dictionary is: a word or symbol (such as "five" or "16") that represents a specific amount or quantity.
It's used in many common phrases — for instance:
Think of a number between 1 and 100.
Never give out your credit card number to anyone over the phone.
Today's winning lottery numbers are 17, 8 and 46.
But we're taking a bit of a different look at numbers. For instance, pictured here are participants in "Twins Day" at the Adams Theater in Newark. They were taking part in a 1940s promotional campaign by the movie theaters.
