Victim took a photo of the suspect, police said
NEWARK -- DNA evidence has linked 49-year-old Irvis Johnson (pictured) to a May burglary and now police are seeking the suspect, the department said in a statement.
Irvis Johnson (Newark Police Department) A woman returned her apartment in the 100 block of Lehigh Avenue last year and discovered that it had been burglarized. The victim went to a neighbor's to call police and spotted a man in the driveway with some of her stolen belongings when she returned. The victim took a picture of the man, police said.
Det. Joshua Rivera headed up an investigation which recovered DNA evidence that was a match for Johnson, who was also the man in the photo taken by the victim, police said. A warrant was issued for Johnson's arrest.
