EAST ORANGE -- The city is set to usher in summer Saturday with a daylong free concert.

The second annual East Orange MACFest is set to kick off at noon Saturday with two performance stages set up outside city hall. The eight-hour show will include performances from R&B vocalists Vivian Green, Sunshine Anderson, and Aaron Camper, house music singer Roxanna Lynn, 8-year-old guitar prodigy Marel Hildago, the Caribbean Ekklipse Steel Band, the Above Ground Project, and Chicc the Comedian. Hip hop artist Rah Digga is set to host the event, and WBLS DJs will spin music throughout the day.

In addition to the music performances, attendees can expect an arts, accessories and culinary marketplace with over 50 local food, art and culture vendors, a beer, wine and sangria garden and a Kidz Korner featuring the Montclair Museum Art Truck.

N.J.'s city of 700 abandoned properties

The event, city leaders said, is meant to foster a sense of community in East Orange and beyond.

"Our city is successfully undergoing an urban renewal fueled by a growing arts and culture scene right in the heart of our Transit Village. This festival is a wonderful combination of what East Orange is and what it has the potential to be," Mayor Lester Taylor said in a release about the event.

"We are hoping to attract festival lovers from across the region to experience East Orange."

Attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs for the concert.
