Anyone with information asked to call police
NEWARK -- Two shootings left three people injured in the state's largest city, authorities said Wednesday.
One case of gunfire came shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday on the 800 block of Broad Street, in the city's downtown area and blocks from city hall. The victim, identified as a male, was taken to University Hospital suffering from a non life-threatening injury, authorities said.
"This is an isolated incident," according to a statement from Detective Gloria Caballero, of city's Public Safety Department.
Two people - a man and a woman - were treated and released from University Hospital after they were wounded in a shooting on the 100 block of Avon Avenue around 3 a.m. Wednesday, according to police.
Detectives with the police division's Cease Fire Shooting Response Team were in the early stages of both investigations, following leads and working to pinpoint a motive for the shootings, Caballero added.
