Anyone with information urged to call police
NEWARK -- Authorities on Wednesday asked for the public's help to find a 21-year-old man accused of shooting another man in the city earlier this month.
John Herrera, a Newark resident, is wanted in connection to the shooting of a 30-year-old city man July 12, according to Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose.
Herrera allegedly shot the man on the 300 block of North 7th Street, Ambrose said in a statement. The man was released after being treated at Clara Maass Medical Center. The investigation was ongoing.
Man slept through fire with gun
Ambrose urged anyone with information about Herrera's whereabouts to contact the city 24-hour Crime Stoppers tip line at 877-NWK-TIPS (877-695-8477) or NWK-GUNS (877-695-4867). All anonymous tips are confidential and could lead to a reward, police said.
