29-year-old was shot before 8 p.m. Wednesday, officials said.

NEWARK -- Authorities have identified the man killed in a shooting in the city Wednesday night.

DeShawn Judson, 29, of Newark, was shot at around 7:50 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of Kenmore Ave., acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said in a joint press release Thursday.

Officials announce charges in 15 shootings

Judson was transported to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:34 p.m., authorities said.

Officials say they are investigating the shooting, and asked anyone with information to call the prosecutor's Tips Line at 877-847-7432.

The city's 69th homicide of the year comes on the heels of a press conference during which Murray, Ambrose, and Newark Mayor Ras Baraka announced more than a dozen arrests in recent shootings.
