NEWARK -- Police are asking the public to help them identify a man they believe was involved in an aggravated assault early Saturday morning.
Newark police say shortly after 1 a.m. a man nearly struck three people with his vehicle in a parking lot in the area of Irvington Avenue and Manor Drive.
The man exited his car and punched one of the people, police said. He then drove away with a woman on Manor Drive.
Police say this vehicle was used in an aggravated assault early Saturday morning. (Newark Police Department) Police described the car as a dark-colored sport utility vehicle, possibly a Honda Pilot or Passport. Police said the suspect is a black male, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, with long dreadlocks. He was wearing a long, green coat, a hat, blue jeans and black shoes at the time of the alleged assault, according to police.
