NEWARK - The 23rd annual Blue Mass was held at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark today honoring fallen police officers. Archbishop of Newark, Rev. John J. Myers celebrated the Mass for law enforcement killed in the line of duty.
This year there were 4 people who were specifically remembered at the Mass for their sacrifices. They were Police Officer Stephen Petruzzello of the Cliffside Park police department, Detective Scott Stevens of the Ocean County Prosecutor's office, Corporal Scott R. Thompson of the Manchester Township Police Department and Trooper Anthony Raspa of the New Jersey State Police.
Over one thousand law enforcement, friends and family were there to honor the four men who died in the line of duty this past year.
