NEWARK -- A woman who was hit by an NJ Transit bus in the city on Saturday remains in critical condition on Sunday, police said.
The city's public safety director, Anthony Ambrose, said in an email that the investigation is ongoing and the victim is in critical condition.
The woman, who is in her 60s, was crossing the street around 1:30 p.m. when she was hit by the bus at it turned from Mount Prospect Avenue onto Heller Parkway, Capt. Derek Glenn, spokesman for Newark's Department of Public Safety, said on Saturday.
Glenn said the woman was likely to lose both of her legs.
The bus driver remained at the scene, Glenn added.
No additional information was available Sunday morning.
